The May 15, 2020 edition of Friday Night SmackDown was hosted from the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.

RESULTS

Segment #1: "Miz TV" features Mr. Money in the Bank

Tonight's episode of SmackDown opened with The Miz and John Morrison hosting "Miz TV." Before the two superstars could introduce their guest, Otis came out to the ring, with his new confident attitude from winning the men's Money in the Bank Ladder match in tow. The hosts mocked Otis, wondering how such a bumbling fool could be holding such a prestigious award. A tag team match was set up, but with Tucker out of action, Otis was going to have to find a partner.

Segment #2: Intercontinental Championship Tournament begins with King Corbin vs. Elias

Michael Cole announced that, with Sami Zayn being "injured," the next Intercontinental Champion would be crowned in a tournament (bracket below). After losing the men's Money in the Bank ladder match thanks to him, King Corbin was looking to get some revenge on Elias. That revenge was just a small prize however, as this match was also a first round match in the tournament. Corbin seemed to have the match won, dominating Elias and talking trash along the way. That was until he smashed his opponent's most prized possession: his guitar. This act enraged Elias, who hit a jumping knee strike for the victory.

Segment #3: Dana Brooke defeats Naomi

Things just keep getting better for Dana Brooke. After having a commendable performance in the women's Money in the Bank Ladder match, Brooke looked to continue her strong efforts with a victory over Naomi. And she did just that! After being staggered a few times by the former SmackDown Women's Champion, Brooke caught Naomi in a roll-up for the win. Naomi looked very cross afterwards, so it is highly likely we will see these two face off again in the future.

Segment #4: Charlotte Flair returns to SmackDown

On commentary, Michael Cole made the announcement of a brand to brand invitational, which would allow superstars from any shows to intermix with each other. This prompted Charlotte Flair, the current NXT Women's Champion to come down to the ring. "The Queen" was quickly interrupted by Sasha Banks and the SmackDown Women's Champion Bayley. After reminding Flair that she is a "Role Model," Bayley quickly deflected Flair's comments about the relationship between her and Sasha being uneven. Banks did look a little flustered when Charlotte asked her if she felt content "being an afterthought."

Segment #5: Daniel Bryan and Drew Gulak clean house in IC Title Tournament

The second Intercontinental Championship Tournament first round match, and the penultimate main event of the evening saw friends Daniel Bryan and Drew Gulak facing off. Although they had a sportsmanlike handshake before the match began, when the bell rang Bryan and Gulak put their friendship on hold. The two friends know each other very well, so they used whatever secret mat techniques they have against each other. The match was hard-fought, but in the end, it was Daniel Bryan going home with the victory. After the match, Renee Young interview Bryan, where he stated that the Intercontinental Championship should be held by the greatest wrestling in WWE: him.

Segment #6: Otis finds an unlikely ally in Braun Strowman

Otis certainly found a strong partner for his tag team match against The Miz and John Morrison. Braun Strowman was understandably wary of teaming with Otis. After all, Otis could cash in his Money in the Bank contract to try and steal Strowman's Universal Championship. The two behemoths dominated their opponents, at one point even hitting a double version of the Caterpillar on Miz. After the match, Otis jokingly tried to cash in on Braun, which "The Monster Among Men" didn't take too kindly to.
