NXT 4/1/2020 Results

ABOUT

The April 1, 2020 edition of NXT was hosted from Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida.

Segment #1: Bobby Fish gets a taste of the Velveteen Dream "Experience"

The Velveteen Dream continues to forge his path to Adam Cole and the NXT Championship. Taking on Cole's Undisputed Era teammate, Dream came out of the gate using his signature graceful offense. Bobby Fish wasn't having any of it though, systematically taking Dream's injured left leg apart in a slow and pointed manner. Dream was able to rally back, finishing the match with a devastating Dream Valley Driver.  Afterwards, Dream promised Adam Cole that the NXT Championship will soon be his.

Segment #2: Dexter Lumis tears into Jake Atlas

Never once taking his eyes of Jake Atlas after the bell rang, Dexter Lumis dominated his opponent like no other. After Lumis hit him with a nasty Spinebuster, Atlast was able to make a short comeback. However, Lumis stopped this pretty quickly, forcing Atlas to tap out to a submission very similar to the Anaconda Vice. Dexter loomed over his opponents prone body after the fact.

Segment #3: Shotzi Blackheart impresses in Second Chance Gauntlet Match, but Dakota Kai prevails

Starting off at position #1 in the 6-Woman Gauntlet match, the odds didn't look good for Shotzi Blackheart. However, she was able to make it to the end, toppling Deonna Purrazzo, Xia Li, Kayden Carter, and Aliyah along the way with a nasty submission that is eerily similar to Cattle Mutilation. Blackheart wasn't able to compete with Dakota Kai though. Rather she couldn't compete with Kai's enforcer, Raquel Gonázles, who got involved at every opportunity. It was because of this interferece that Kai was able to land the Go To Kick and finish Blackheart.

Segment #4: Joaquin Wilde couldn't best Kushida

After competing on 205 Live recently, Joaquin Wilde went into this match against Kushida full of confidence. That confidence may have in fact been arrogance, as Kushida dominated Wilde for most of this bout. In fact, Kushida was so dominant that he halted his beat-down to make sure Wilde was okay. This allowed Wilde to get in a little offense, but Kushida ended the match soon after by locking in his Armbar.

Segment #5: Keith Lee's NXT North American Championship reign appears to be "Limitless"

With this hard-hitting contest against Dominik Dijakovic and Damian Priest, Keith Lee further prove why everyone should "Bask in His Glory."  The competitors wasted no time in getting to work, with all three being layed out with kicks early on. Dijakovic showed that big guys can fly too with some high-impact aerial offense. Priest yet again showed why his kicks are unmatched in NXT. Lee was able to secure the victory and retain his title using his to most powerful moves, the Spirit Bomb and the Big Bang Catastrope.
