Zack Ryder is Born
On May 14, 1985, Matthew Cardona, better known to wrestling audiences as Zack Ryder, was born. Ryder made his debut with WWE in 2004, and throughout his tenure, was generally just considered a glorified jobber. Despite this, Ryder got himself over with the fans, which led to him winning the United States Championship. However, the company never had faith in him, and the title reign didn't last long. His most memorable moment came at WrestleMania 32, where he surprisingly won the Intercontinental Championship in a ladder match (video below). Again however, this reign didn't last long (literally 1 day )due to backstage politics. This terrible booking, and the financial trouble placed upon WWE in 2020 due to the COVID-19 virus, led to Ryder being released from the company.
